Knebworth House & Gardens are set in the 250 acre Knebworth Deer Park, with grazing herds of Red and Sika Deer, historic Knebworth House has been home to the Lytton family for over 19 generations. Notable family members include novelist Sir Edward Bulwer Lytton and suffragette Lady Constance Lytton.
The exterior with its ornate architectural details of turrets, domes and gargoyles, conceals an earlier red brick house dating back to Tudor times. Famous Edwardian architect Sir Edwin Lutyens created the present layout of the 28 acre formal garden. Gertrude Jekyll’s 1907 design was used to recreate the Herb Garden.
More recently, Knebworth has been named the Stately Home of Rock! The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Oasis and Robbie Williams, as well as a host of other major artists, have played Knebworth Festivals since 1974.
Open air classical concerts are also held in the gardens during the summer. The House has also made many appearances on the big screen, including The Crown series. This concert and film history is showcased in The Exhibition Space.
