Volunteering

U3AC is run by its members for its members, so many of the people you see working in our premises – such as our receptionists, course leaders and tutors – are volunteers, as are all the members of Council (Trustees). In fact, we have only four paid members of staff, three of whom are part time.

Although many members will have joined U3AC to take part in courses, all members are encouraged to commit to volunteering in one of the following ways. Click to find out more and then contact the Office to start volunteering now.

There is a demand for more social groups in U3AC giving members a chance to meet new people. Recently the Theatre group and the Round Table Lunch group have been set up.  Perhaps you could set up a new one?

U3AC needs you!

As a busy and successful organisation, we have a constant need for help with our various activities.

You could:

  • Teach a class or lead a group
  • Work on reception for a morning or afternoon
  • Work in the premises as a Zoom host for one session a week in term time
  • Help arrange a visit to a museum, theatre or gallery
  • Help fill envelopes when our mailings go out.

More established members may wish to consider becoming a Trustee (a member of U3AC’s Council) and be involved in running the organisation.  Trustees are elected at the AGM, held in March, for an initial term of three years. Vacancies for Trustees are announced in the December Newsletter, which also includes details of the Nomination procedure.

Please contact the Office in person, by email office@u3ac.org.uk or call 01223 321587, if you would like to discuss how you could be involved in making U3AC happen.
