Trumpington Park and Ride: 8.30 am
Coach departs Chartwell at 4.45 pm
For over 40 years Chartwell was the family home of Sir Winston Churchill and he lived there until shortly before his death in 1965. You will see the dining room where Churchill met with the supporters of his campaign against the rearmament of Germany in the 1930s, the study where he wrote his speeches and books, the beautiful gardens and lakes, which he helped to construct with his own hands, and his painting studio. The property now belongs to the National Trust.
When we arrive there will be time for coffee / tea etc, before we walk down to the house. We have reserved times for our group members to enter the house for self-guided tours. Everything is well signed, with plenty of guides to give additional information. After visiting the house, we will have time to explore the gardens and grounds.
The Landmark Café is situated in the car park and serves fresh, seasonal, locally-sourced food, including sandwiches, salads, soups, cakes and cream teas.
If you have mobility issues please contact one of the organisers.
NATIONAL TRUST MEMBERS MUST BRING THEIR MEMBERSHIP CARDS. OTHERWISE THEY WILL HAVE TO PAY THE FULL ENTRANCE CHARGE.
