Cartier is a French luxury goods manufacturer founded in Paris in 1847 by Louis-Francois Cartier.
The company remained under family control until 1964. We shall visit the exhibition in groups of 10. There are over 350 objects including precious jewels, historic gemstones, watches and clocks that chart Cartier’s legacy of art, design and craftmanship.
Some highlights include a Tiara commissioned in 1902 and worn by Elizabeth II at her coronation.
Grace Kelly’s engagement ring from 1956 as well as pieces lent by King Charles and other private collectors.
There is free time to visit other notable objects in the V&A for example: The Three Graces – Antonio Canova; Tipu’s Tiger – mechanical automaton by Tipu Sultan, ruler of Mysore, India; Coco Chanel – costumes, a glimpse into the world of art and fashion.
Refreshments are available in the two V&A cafés and patisserie.
