This is a group for people who enjoy playing the piano to a reasonable standard and who would like to gain confidence in playing in front of others. The idea would be for a couple of members of the group to prepare something to play each time we meet, giving everyone the opportunity to be heard by a small, supportive and totally non-judgemental audience. It would also be a forum for discussing our playing, sharing helpful encouragement and piano playing tips and discussing pieces to play. I would suggest that course participants should play fluently but I hesitate to specify grade levels as this is not important. I have recently been on a piano course where people from grade 6 up to diploma level played happily to each other. My own piano playing is generally but not exclusively influenced by classical music, but I would not wish to restrict the groups’ playing choices.
