  • Day and time: 1st Tuesday of the month 10:15 - 11:15
  • Length of course: 3 terms. Autumn (3 Weeks), Spring (2 Weeks), Summer (2 Weeks)
  • Vacancies: 8
  • Start date: 06 October 2026
  • Description:

We will discuss books and other materials e.g. U3AC recorded lectures, podcasts and radio programmes; both fact and fiction on sustainability, and work together to consider taking appropriate actions e.g. reducing meat consumption, writing to MPs, car sharing or planting trees or a wild flower meadow. Our first book will be 'Who Owns The Wind? Climate Crisis and the hope of Renewable Energy'. The group decides its reading matter. We usually divide large books into sections to reduce workload. Books in 25/26 included 'The Serviceberry' by Robin Wall Kimmerer; Tim Jackson's 'Post Growth, Life After Capitalism; Clearing the Air' by Hannah Ritchie; 'Replenishing the Earth by Wangari Maathai; and Kim Stanley Robinson's 'The Ministry for The Future'. This course is for anyone who would like to know and do more about sustainability.
