Playing with words is a series of creative writing classes running over two terms which explores creative writing tools to help you write imaginatively, with fun, and without fear. We'll play with specific elements of craft such as characterisation, plotting, creating a story world, point of view and other voices, structure and editing. There'll be a mix of discussion, stimulating writing games, reading of illustrative texts, sharing work, and suggestions for writing activities to do on your own. We'll look at both fiction and life writing. The course is for anyone who has the urge to write, whether you're a beginner or already have a work in progress. The emphasis is on playfulness; all you need is something to write on, something to write with and a desire to play with the expressive power of words.
