  • Day and time: Tuesday 15:50 - 17:00
    Weekly
  • Length of course: 3 terms. Autumn (10 Weeks), Spring (10 Weeks), Summer (4 Weeks)
  • Vacancies: 1
  • Start date: 06 October 2026
  • Description:

This is a small informal group discussing scientific topics of interest to members. Each member will be expected to lead off one of the classes with a short topic of choice before other members contribute their own 'conversation starters'. 'Conversation starters' embrace scientific, or technology developments, an insight you recently gained, something that made you wonder how it worked, or a question? You have two/ three minutes to informally introduce your starter, then you can see what the rest of us make of it! Topics not covered in one class can be held over to a future session. This class would suit those, who studied a science based, or related, degree, and continue to have a widespread interest in science. You are also likely to have insatiable curiosity and a desire to learn from the unexpected!

  • Format: Discussion

  • Coordinator: John Hall
  • Your facilitator has a science degree, has direct experience in instrumentation physics following graduation, and then worked for science based companies in various capacities.
