This course has been designed by three mathematicians for anyone with an interest in furthering their knowledge of higher mathematics. Participants will not need a mathematical background. We are aiming to achieve clarity in presentation and hope class members will relish being intellectually challenged.
We aim to cover a very wide range of topics: polynomials, complex numbers, matrices and numerical methods, all the way to string theory and Fermat's last theorem. For each topic we shall provide some introductory context, a little theoretical development and then a high-level view of the importance and further implications.
Our aim is to convey the enjoyment of insights into higher mathematics, pure and not so pure. You don't have to be a mathematician, just interested.
I am a mathematician and have taught number theory for many years
