This course is designed for those wanting to start Latin or to refresh what they learnt years ago. We will work from the Cambridge Latin Course, books 1&2. The course, a gentle introduction to the language, is based on the philosophy that language is closely allied to those who spoke and wrote it, and that culture is as important as the grammar. These books are based on Roman life in Pompeii, Roman Britain and Egypt. We follow the life of a young man caught up in the disaster of Pompeii. As far as possible the stories are based on real events and people
