Samba is a variation of the game Canasta with the addition of being able to play runs of cards of the same suit. This class is a development of the successful Canasta club (LEI 13) and it is aimed at people who have attended that course or who are otherwise experienced Canasta players. A knowledge of Canasta is therefore expected, but full tuition in Samba will be given. The primary objective is to socialise, but Samba also sharpens: your mental arithmetic (scoring); your memory (for cards played and the rules); and your manual dexterity (shuffling and dealing). There is the option to explore Bolivia (a card game based on Samba, with Canastas of wild cards) in the Summer term.
