For this class you need a good working level of French, roughly the old 'A' level, but rusty would do. It is a fun way to brush up rusty language, get to grips with varying constructions and expand vocabulary. We read a sentence each (with help if necessary) and translate it into English. We speak English apart from reading the text. We are reading 'La geisha et le joueur de banjo' by Jérôme Hallier - it is a modern, well-written novel about - well guess what! taking in Japan, USA and Paris, geishas and music. We will probably be about chapter 4, so newcomers would find it reasonably easy to catch up, and would be very welcome. We are a relaxed, friendly group, no pressure.
