Cooking: the books (LEI 17)

  • Day and time: Friday 14:15 - 15:45
    Fortnightly
  • Length of course: 2 terms. Autumn (5 Weeks), Spring (5 Weeks)
  • Vacancies: 2
  • Start date: 09 October 2026
  • Description:

At each session one of the members presents cooking concepts or resources (interpreted very broadly) following a pre-arranged theme. Anyone enthusiastic about food should find something to join in with and enjoy. Meetings rotate between participants' houses, and following an exposition of the week's topic there is discussion over cups of tea or coffee. Sometimes the recipes introduced are illustrated with nibbles. The style is informal and it is not necessary to make your house available. Because sessions are led by different members, the areas covered vary widely: from quick and easy recipes to more grand offerings. Previous sessions have covered food from a range of lands, cultures and traditions, ideas for family gatherings, picnics, and insights that come from science and from history. New ideas for topics always are welcome. Often several members have additional knowledge of the topic, leading to discussions from which all can collect new ideas.
