Book group 1 (LIT 01(z))

  • Day and time: 1st Tuesday of the month 9:45 - 11:00
  • Length of course: 3 terms. Autumn (3 Weeks), Spring (3 Weeks), Summer (4 Weeks)
  • Number of places: 14
  • Start date: 07 October 2025
  • Description:

Book group 1 reads mainly 20th/21st century contemporary fiction and sometimes non-fiction. It is anticipated that each member will choose a book or books during the year and then lead the discussion but this is certainly not obligatory. New and returning members are equally welcome. The book for the first meeting in October is 'Long Island' by Colm Toibin. Please bring suggestions for future reading to the first meeting of the Autumn term so we can plan ahead. The group often continues to meet during the holiday breaks and sometimes starts the week before the official start of term. Note: The course will be held via video-conference (Zoom) throughout the year. We try to organise an annual face-to-face meeting.
