  • Description:

Pliny the Younger, distinguished Roman orator, lawyer, politician and landowner, wrote letters about every aspect of his life from the highest echelons of society and his appointment as a provincial governor, to what he had for dinner and his feelings for his young wife. His many friends feature with their occupations for example Tacitus, the historian, Martial, writer of naughty verse, and the Emperor himself. Our journey will take us with him to Comum, his home town, Rome and his province in the East, Bithynia Pontus. Above all Pliny was human, as we shall see.
