Term has now ended. The next academic year will start on Monday 10 October.
There is a new exhibition to view: ART 08 – ‘Summer time’, a selection of work by our amateur group during 2021-22.
We will be holding our Open day for prospective members on 7 July from 10 am – 1 pm
This is an important recruiting opportunity at which we showcase the range of courses and activities we offer members and give them a chance to meet some existing members and tutors/organisers.
To promote the event, we have designed and produced a poster click here and would like your help with getting it as widely distributed as possible. As you know your local area, you will be the best judge of which locations and organisations are likely to attract the most attention. So, please give some thought to where in your locality it could be most beneficially displayed. Then print off the required number of copies and make the necessary arrangements for it to be put up (eg parish office approval). Alternatively, you can collect copies of the poster from the U3AC Office.
Your help in promoting U3AC is both necessary and appreciated, as we need to recover our membership to pre-pandemic levels.
We will be sending next year’s Programme to members at the beginning of July. If you have moved or changed your contact details recently, please let us know so that we can update our records.
If you know of a friend who would like to be sent a Programme, please let us have their name and postal address.
A programme of events to celebrate our 40th Anniversary is now available, events started last week and include garden parties, tours and wine tastings. An additional Sculpture tour has been added to the events.
This year’s Summer School will be held from Monday 11 July to Friday 5 August. Thank you to everyone who has offered to give a talk or course for inclusion; there is a wide range of topics from which to choose.

If any bridge players would like to join, just email her at aswinney2000@gmail.com with your BBO name and other contact details. You need to pay BB0 $1.50 and be online on the competitive site before 2pm on a Tuesday. There is a partnership desk if you don’t have a partner.
As this is the last week of term, we have sent an email request to members to complete a feedback survey on courses they have attended, that finish this term. This applies to three-term autumn/ spring/ summer, two-term spring/summer and one-term summer courses.
The information that you offer about your experiences is appreciated by tutors as they can use it to inform their own reviews and in planning their next course. We have received appreciative emails from tutors who value this feedback.
The information is also useful for the Office and Courses Committee in identifying overall satisfaction and engagement patterns from members. All feedback is treated confidentially.

Heidelberg and Cambridge have been officially “twinned” since 1965, following several exchange visits starting in 1957. U3AC and their Heidelberg counterparts have exchanged visits for a number of years and 2022 will see the opportunity for members of U3AC to visit this historic German city after a break caused by Covid.
Our visit will be on 7 -14 Sep and we travel to Heidelberg variously by air, car or train and stay in a hotel in the city centre arranged by our hosts. German counterparts have always arranged a full and interesting programme of visits to museums, local sites, concerts etc. If you would like to join the visit or have any questions please contact Dave Horan at dave.horan@gmx.co.uk. [PS A knowledge of German is useful but not essential, as most of our hosts speak embarrassingly good English (a relief as I don’t speak a word!)]
We have a new Facebook page. If you have a Facebook account, please follow and share the page with your friends to spread the word. https://www.facebook.com/U3AC-101269082623927/
U3AC supports other local organisations by listing their activities on the Other organisations page of our website https://www.u3ac.org.uk/social/other-organisations/
