Lunchtime concert series (MUS 10)

  • Day and time: Tuesday 12:45 - 14:00
    Weekly
  • Length of course: 3 terms. Autumn (10 Weeks), Spring (10 Weeks), Summer (4 Weeks)
  • Number of places: 115
  • Start date: 18 October 2022
  • Description:

Each week we will have a bring-your-own sandwich and coffee together in the West Road concert hall foyer, before attending the Cambridge University Musical Society’s free lunchtime concert which runs from 13.10-14.00 during university term, stopping early in Easter term due to exams. These concerts present the University’s top musicians in ensembles ranging from 1 to 30 performers. The programme is classically focused but includes a range of styles, such as jazz, Gamelan and close harmony, as well as choral singing, chamber music and instrumental concertos. I will try and arrange occasional short talks with one of the performers. You do not need to attend all concerts. I hope this will be a social event as well as a cultural one. Donations are requested by the society at the end of the concert but are entirely voluntary. Exact dates will be distributed nearer the time, as they will not exactly overlap with the 10 weeks of U3AC’s terms.

  • Format: Sandwich and concert

  • Organiser: Jo Whitehead
  • I am a trustee and Vice Chairman of Cambridge University Musical Society, although not a musician, beyond singing in the choir. More details available on request via jo.whitehead@ashridge.org.uk
