Reading is a great pleasure, which is much enhanced when you can share your thoughts with others. That’s what our reading group is about. We’ve been going for a number of years now (we used to be Book group 5) and the format seems to work well. I choose the first book, but then the choice comes from the group, so that our range is always extending: it can be an old favourite, a bright new author, or whatever takes our fancy - some work, some don’t, but the discussion is always interesting.
The book I suggest for this autumn is The Strays of Paris by Jane Smiley. She’s an American author I’ve enjoyed in the past but haven’t seen anything by her for some time. It looks at first glance a little unusual but after our strange past couple of years, it may be just what we need to lift our spirits. I look forward to meeting you all.
