    Weekly
  • Length of course: 1 term. Autumn (10 Weeks)
  • Number of places: 30

  • Description:

This course provides an overview of the science of happiness, and its practical implications. We will explore questions such as what is happiness, are there different types of happiness, how feasible is it to increase happiness, what practices might create happiness and special topics such as how happiness changes with age. The premise of the course is that a better understanding of the rapidly emerging research provides a valuable basis for making choices about whether and how to improve your own personal happiness, as well as what that means in practice. The format consists of a pre-reading, a short lecture and then a group discussion. The course is open to anyone and requires no previous expertise or knowledge. Participants should gain a richer understanding of the nature of happiness and how they can cultivate it for themselves.
