  • Description:

The course will be taught by Karen Stringer ANATD, MNATD, FNATD – Director of the School of Russian Ballet in Cambridge. Karen specialises in teaching adults and believes strongly that everyone should have the chance to learn to dance and/or develop their skills. Karen is experienced in teaching mixed ability classes. The course is open to beginners, those who perhaps danced as children, as well as those who have more experience and knowledge of ballet technique and exercises. Classes will be structured to include exercises at the barre to warm up the body, followed by centre work. This will include exercises and combinations of steps, followed by a group dance. Some exercises will be especially directed at Improvers with an easier version for beginners. The aim is to increase fitness, balance, strength and poise. There will be a short break at a suitable time during the class. Karen expects everyone to have proper ballet attire – any style black leotard, black or pink tights, black or pink ballet shoes, and a ballet skirt (optional) – which can be purchased online, from International Dance Supplies. Leggings and a T-shirt may be worn for the first lesson. Note: There is an additional fee of £61 to pay for the tutor, payable on application.
