Following on from the A Fourth Year of Latin course which ran in 2019-2020, this class is intended for anyone with an O level, good GCSE or equivalent. Building on the grammar covered in Latin to GCSE 1 and 2, our main textbook will be The Latin Language, a handbook for students, which prepares students to read Latin authors. Latin texts, which can be accessed via the internet, will be drawn from sources such as The OCR Latin Anthology for GCSE, A Little Latin Reader, and the Cambridge Latin Anthology. As before, there will be listening, speaking, explicit grammar work, and translation Latin to English and English to Latin. 1-2 hours preparation between classes expected. Optional resources: a reference grammar and a dictionary such as Cassell's Latin-English English-Latin. Newcomers please contact me by email before term starts for guidance and support.
