Choir (Spring and Summer terms) (MUS 03)

This course is cancelled

  • Day and time: Thursday 10:30 - 12:00
    Weekly
  • Length of course: 2 terms. Spring (10 Weeks), Summer (10 Weeks)
  • Number of places: 0
  • Start date: 14 January 2021
  • Description:

A well-established SATB group that enjoys singing a wide range of music (sacred and secular/traditional and modern). We usually sing a couple of substantial choral pieces during the year alongside a variety of smaller arrangements. These vary from madrigals and motets through to extracts from operas, musicals and other lighter music. Recently we have sung works by Saint-Saëns, Gershwin, and Bernstein. We have also worked on two particularly interesting works: 'Hiawatha's Wedding Feast' by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, and 'Phaudrig Crohoore' by Charles Villiers Stanford (and we have yet to perform the latter). All music is provided, but we occasionally request a small voluntary contribution to offset costs. Regular weekly attendance is important in order to perform at the end of each term to our very supportive following. Whilst the ability to read music is not essential, you should be willing and able to learn your part and sing it in tune!

Note: The Spring term will be held via Zoom.
