Garden Parties

French Exchange with UTA Lyon
The cultural exchange between U3A Cambridge and UTA Lyon will be in its eighth season in 2011 and we are looking for a few extra people who would like to host our Lyonnaise visitors from 22-29 June (a couple of a single person) with a view to returning to Lyon in 2012. Over the years we have built up very friendly relations with our counterparts in Lyon and have experienced matchless hospitality from them during our visits. It will be the turn of U3A Cambridge to return hospitality this summer and we are looking for new hosts / participants.
We would still be interested in hearing from you if you are interested in taking part and/or able to help with hospitality/lifts etc., but are unable to host yourself. If you are interested and would like to find out more please contact the office.

Heidelberg Exchange Meeting
Friday 6 May 12.15 – 1.15 Room 5, 27-28 Bridge Street
Come to this meeting and hear how you, as a volunteer, can enjoy a week (6th -13th July) entertaining our friendly group of visitors from Heidelberg! The group will stay at Fitzwilliam College in Huntingdon Road. You will not need to speak German as most of the ‘Heidelbergers’ are keen to speak English although, if you wish to speak German, they may let you practise!
At the meeting we will go through the week’s plans so far and discuss with you how you might help whether for a day or for the full week. The week’s activities will include visits to Audley End, the Sanger Institute and Hinxton Genome Centre, a fish ‘n chip supper trip on the Riverboat Georgina, a train trip to Ely to visit the Cathedral, Stained Glass Museum and Oliver Cromwell Museum, Anglesey Abbey, the mill and gardens, a guided tour of Cambridge, a Civic Reception, possibly Shakespeare in the Park, the Fitzwilliam Museum and St. John’s College. We welcome any other suggestions particularly for the evenings.
Please let the office know if you are interested in volunteering and whether you are able to come to the meeting.
