This class is intended for those who have advanced far enough in their study of the Russian language to extend their knowledge and enjoyment of its literature by co-operative reading.  Our method is to choose a book by common consent and then to read and translate around the group, having prepared an agreed section in advance.  Subsequent discussion, please note, is in English.  In past years we have covered a wide range of novels and plays from different centuries, and this year have read a Bulgakov play, before returning to classic Tolstoy.
At the beginning of the new academic year we are embarking upon a collection of short stories by Ivan Bunin.
