ARTC 01:CERAMICS - POTTERY 1

This is a self-help group, all levels welcome but must have some basic experience of pottery techniques. £25 per term (additional fee to cover cost of clay, glazes and firings etc) payable to White House Arts at the start of the course. All materials and equipment and tea, coffee and biscuits provided.

ARTC 03: INTRODUCTION TO STICHED BEAD JEWELLERY

This is a basic course. By learning the 3 basic stitches you will be able to create unusual and attractive pieces, and the possibilities are endless. I can provide materials for the first session, and will have the catalogue for you to order your own equipment for future sessions. It would, however, be helpful if you could bring with you a sharp pair of nail / embroidery scissors and a non-slip piece of cloth, i.e. hand towel or tea towel, to work on. No experience necessary, except patience and good eyesight (with or without glasses).

ARTC 06: NEEDLECRAFT

A self-help practical working group for members who enjoy all forms of needlework including sewing and basic embroidery, patchwork, quilting, needlepoint, crochet, knitting and other related crafts. This is a friendly group of needle workers who are always happy to share their expertise with each other. Everyone is welcome to work on their own projects in good company.

ARTC 07: PATCHWORK (HAND SEWN)
Tutor: Anne Culver
Day and time: Wednesday 2.00 - 4.00

Number of places: 6
Suitable for beginners and more experienced people. The course involves lots of hand stitching, some simple design work, some information about the history of patchwork and the opportunity to learn a wide variety of techniques. Students work at their own pace on sample pieces or their own selected projects. Participants should bring a basic sewing kit and a small selection of cotton fabrics, new or recycled.

ARTC 08: QUILTING, MACHINE EMBROIDERY AND TEXTILE ART

A self-help class for all those who want to explore quilting and textile art techniques using modern, mainly machined, methods. This will include free machine quilting, embroidery and beading to embellish your work. All levels are welcome but you should own and have recent experience of using a modern electric sewing machine with at least a zig-zag and the facility to drop the feed as standard functions. Participants will need to provide their own basic equipment.

ARTC 10: GET CREATIVE WITH YOUR COMPUTER USING SERIF 'CRAFT ARTIST'

Learn how to make your own greetings cards, invitations, photobooks, calendars and scrapbooks, personalising them with your photos or with supplied elements. The Craft Artist programme is designed specifically for this purpose and although the programme has great capabilities, it is very user friendly. The course will be an introduction to Craft Artist using video tutorials and hands-on practise. A free ‘taster’ version of the software is available for download on your home computer and the full programme is reasonably priced. You should have a working knowledge of opening and saving computer files, although help will be given. Members are encouraged to email the tutor for more information in the first instance before enrolling.
Note: There is a fee of £20 for this course for the use and update of computing equipment and software. However this fee will be waived if members bring their own laptop pre-loaded with the Serif ‘Craft Artist’™ software.
