Day and time: Monday 2.00 - 4.00
Length of course: 2 terms
Number of places: 5

Suitable for absolute beginners or those who are not very experienced.  We look at the history of patchwork, colour, design and many techniques, traditional and modern.  The course involves a great deal of handsewing, some simple design work, study of colour and some information about the history of handsewn patchwork.  Students work on sample pieces and their own projects.  They need a basic sewing kit and a small selection of cotton fabrics (new or recycled).  If in doubt discuss the requirements with the tutor before starting the course.

ARTC 10: THREADS

Leader: Pauline Caller
Day and time: Last Tuesday of the month 3.00 - 5.00
Length of course: 3 terms
Number of places: 15
Start date: 23 October
This is not a formally taught group but an opportunity for people who love thread to get together, encourage and learn.  There is no particular skill level required and it is a good starting point for beginners.  The expertise exists to teach knitting, patchwork and quilting, needlepoint, cross-stitch, surface embroidery and crochet and I am more than happy to investigate anything else that you may fancy that involves thread of one sort or another although macramé and stump work might be a little testing!
There is no additional charge for these sessions and tea is provided, although culinary contributions are most welcome.  On a fine afternoon we sit in the garden and indulge in the gentile arts of domesticity.  Do please join us.  It is very informal.
