1945 was the seminal year of the 20th Century: the 2 most horrific secrets of Prehuman History were revealed.  Namely, nuclear WMDs and Industrialised Genocide.  To 'solve the final solution' would be to explain the causality of both.  This course will use 4 books as the basis for this: The Final Solution edited by David Cesarani; Modernity and the Holocaust by Zygmunt Bauman, The Nazi Doctors by Robert Jay Lifton, and The Nazi Holocaust: its History and Meaning by Ronnie S. Landau.  As the latter put it in the 'Conclusion' to his book "The 20th Century has seen remarkable advances in virtually every field of human endeavour, but it has also borne witness to some of the most barbaric events in all of human history….and the Holocaust probably ranks as the very worst."

Note: Starts 24th April.
