SHAKESPEARE'S USE OF LANGUAGE

In this course we shall read 3-5 speeches from a Shakespeare play each week, examining in detail the use of different types of consonant and vowel sounds, rhyme, rhythmic stress and pause, lineation, grammatical forms and structures, and vocabulary. In week 1 we establish the descriptive terminology we shall use throughout. Plays: R&J (wk 1), R11, HV, 12N, Lear, MacB, A&C, Temp.
Note: 8 weeks starts 11th October.
